Well we thought we were going to be out of phone contact again but life is full of surprises – interesting ones at that - read on.....
We had a belated departure from Broome as we both had business to attend to – the Fairbairns went to sort out an electrical issue and the Phillips’ a Telstra issue – the ongoing saga of Telstra not being able to provide the $39 1 Gb plan for the Broadband modem.
It was after midday by the time we hit the road but fortunately we weren’t intending to travel too far anyway. Our destination - James Price Point and beyond.

We checked out the camping area at Prices Point but there wasn’t any shade there so we headed back down the track to Quandong. We had a very belated lunch at a pretty spot down on the beach there. There was plenty of shade but no spare camping spots so we decided to head back to Prices Point and camp on the headland especially as it was getting later in the day when shade wasn’t going to be much of an issue. We certainly made the right choice – we had the entire area to ourselves with magnificent views out to the ocean and along the pristine beaches and headlands.

The only blot on the landscape were two platforms out in the ocean and a dirty great big liner between them.

We suspect that the ship is a floating home for crew. Every now and again a tender would go across from the boat to one of the platforms. Wouldn’t we love to know what was going on and what they were doing. We think that the signal strength we were getting was due to the ship, especially as we lost the signal the next morning when the ship sailed away.
I am making the assumption that most people reading this blog are aware of the controversy over the plan to build a gas processing plant at James Price Point.
Although we always intended on exploring the Dampier Peninsular and the beautiful northern beaches of Broome we did ensure that we spent some time at James Price Point but did not expect to see activity there.
After opening up the trailers and setting up camp we went down to explore the beach and to swim. Our evening was then spent relaxing on the cliff top, watching the sun go down and watching the reflections on the water from Venus setting.
