Because we had almost got to the stage where we felt we had seen enough of gorges we had decided not to go for a drive to the various sights around Charnley (Old Beverly Springs) especially as they didn't sound as if they had much water in them, so we decided to go on one of their walks instead. We did the circular walk that took us past the water tank, up to the tower lookout and then back to the homestead. There were a few points of interest along the way but nothing to suggest that this is a must do walk. The view from the tower wasn’t up to much either. At least we got our daily exercise and because we set off early we didn’t get too hot.
We did see some weird trees that we have yet to identify though

The walk took us back to the homestead so we called in there for them to ring Mt Barnett for us to check if the fuel was in yet. Apparently it hadn’t arrived yet and the truck bringing the fuel wasn’t going to be leaving Derby until Thursday now, so we decided we wouldn’t hang around waiting for it but would head straight to Derby where we could get fuel. This meant that there were a few places along the way that we would have to miss out on visiting. Unfortunately one place we felt we wouldn’t have enough fuel to reach was Mt Hart but we decided to take a punt and go to Bell Gorge especially as it was reputed to be one of the best gorges along the Gibb.
We stopped off in Imintji for a snack and for the Fairbairns to refuel as they did have Diesel. Apparently they don’t have petrol there because of the petrol sniffing problem.
Camping is no longer allowed at Bell Gorge so we camped at Silent Grove a very well appointed camp site 19km in off the Gibb. Because it wasn’t too late in the day too we managed to get a cool shady spot under the trees.
The afternoon was spent relaxing and going on the short walk up the creek there.
They did have a phone booth there, so we were able to make a few phone calls using our phone cards we had purchased
