26 August
Relaxing morning, although we did arise early so that we could pack away the trailers before it got too hot again. We decided to spoil ourselves with a relaxing breakfast at the Dusty Bar. We discussed our future travel plans over breakfast.
Because we had come across several vehicles that had sustained damage on the Kalumburu road and we had also heard stories of others that had experienced a similar fate we made the decision not to head north through Drysdale to Kalumburu and the Mitchell plateau and falls. We felt it was a sensible decision as we didn’t want to compromise the remainder of the trip to Broome and Cape Leveque if we did sustain major damage. Sad becasue we were looking forward to exploring that area, but now we have a genuine excuse to come back, and in the cooler months too. the temperatures are already reaching 40 degrees and just too hot for enjoyment.
So continuing on along the Gibb River Road now.........
I am sitting in the car with the computer purched on my lap (it is a laptop after all!!) on the top of a ridge just outside Home Valley - the last spot with a signal before Derby.
It all looks and sounds lovely but I don't believe it for a second how bout including the heated discussions and differences of opinion in your story telling to make it sound more realistic. Flies what about insects there must be something driving you batty. You must be all getting soft in your old age too, I remember a time when you would have just fixed the damaged what ever with a hacksaw and a lump hammer. he he just jealous I guess:-)
ReplyDeleteHi Guys,
ReplyDeleteGood to hear from you again. Sounds like its pretty warm (no humidity though). I meant to tell you about the Moochalabra Dam. We have some souvenir rocks from there that look like Dead Sea ripple. Also forgot to tell you about the smelly drop toilet at the Bungles!!!
Good luck for the trip to Broome.
Cheers Mark and Kerry.
P.S. Tojo turned 25 on the 19th August. Will have to give it a party somewhere (camping) when you get back.
Wow 25 years - we'll look forward to the celbration
ReplyDeleteLove your comments G - you are right of course - there have been heated discussions, big differences of opinions, also flies and you forgot to ask about the mozzies of which there have been many. Unfortunate;y the blogs are very moderated as it would not be appropriate to add all the other shinanigins and there is lots more I would like to add but there is never any time, we are always too busy rushing off to the next beauty spot so the blog is just a bit of a precis of events.
